Since anyone on this list ought to have a server, I thought I'd give you guys a question:
We have 3 Gateway 8200 servers here, and each can handle dual 600MHZ P3 cpus. That's the easy part. The HARD part is finding the heatsink/fans for these! The motherboard has a 4 pin connector for the fans, 3 pins with a gap in one pin.
Pin1 power
Pin2 sensor for fan
Pin3 empty
Pin4 Ground
(2 + 3 may be reversed)
it's also slotted on the ends to fit the board.
The problem is that any fan I've looked at has either 3 pins, or the power
supply connector. I want to be able to monitor these fans so having the
connectors that fit the MB is a must. I've spoken with Gateway, and since
these models are out of warranty, they no longer stock the parts. I was
given part #8001959 for the heatsink/fan. I was also told there was a
converter for this to make a 3 pin a 4 pin with the space to fit the board,
but they didn't have a PN for it. Anyone know where I can find these? I've
tried a couple of online stores with no luck.
