Thanks for the reply.

I know that setting the max size to 0 means unlimited but I was
wondering if it is feasable to set up a parameter which states that a
user mailbox can still receive email even though it has exceeded its
limit (I am referring to the web interface).  My logic behind this is if
I am on holiday (I'm not downloading my email but reading it through the
web interface) and my mailbox reaches its limit I still want to be able
to receive emails but NOT send any until I have deleted some messages
from my mailbox.  

Is there an add-on to Imail which allows me to do this?

If that were the case, you would not need a maximum size, so set the max
size to 0.
