Wow. So much for having redundant systems....
One solution could be: if you left the Imail DNS field empty, IMail would use the NSs of the OS resolver, which does support primary, secondary, .... NSs.
Same for "send all mail through gateway". A domain name like "mygateway.mydomain.com" could be queried for its MX record (instead of it A records)
mygateway.mydomain.com. MX 10 gw10.mydomain.com. mygateway.mydomain.com. MX 20 gw20.mydomain.com.
