I have bind 9.2 on my nt 4.0 machine and never has hung. set as secondary.
Do you have a high volume of DNS traffic on that server? I'm guessing it is related to volume.

Unix versions are not affected by this bug; only Windows versions.

We would, except v8 (and all previous versions) have the nasty problem with reverse DNS lookups.
