Greetings to all list members. I
have just subbed and am looking forward to catching up on the tips and tricks of
Imail. We have been using Imail 6.0x with ~150 users for a few years with
no problems. We decided to upgrade to 8.0x after a Microsoft
patch affected the Imail Admin with the added benefit of the spam
handling. We are running Imail on a Dell server with two 700 mhz Zeon
processors and 512 MB ram. The server also provides our VPN access for
roughly 40 remote sites and is running an email antivirus scanner that checks
the email prior to it being redirected to Imail(Interscan from
TrendMicro). Average CPU usage is minimal, somewhere around 3%, with
occasional spikes to ~20%.
The system works well, but having
Interscan in front of Imail hides the connection IP address from Imail DNS
Blacklist antispam checker. Since Imail doesn't analyze the headers, it
sees only the connection from Interscan which is of course, us. I have
implemented the phrase scanner and domain scanner with the seed files from
Ipswitch and that, with the statistical content filter, seems to be catching the
majority of spam, but I want more. There are a few options available to us
that require throwing money at it but I was wondering if there was anything I
can do with what I've got to improve things?
Thanks loads,
