Aack! Re-reading this thread can give one whiplash!This isn't about spam, this is about unknown users, which can't be
filtered until there is knowledge of whether or not the user exists,
which means it has to touch the imail server for user account reference.
IMail can't do it, but IMGate can. With Sender Address Verification, IMGate does a temporary reject on delivery from an unknown sender. For example if my server gets an email from [EMAIL PROTECTED] it checks with the MX for example.com to see if the bozo exists. Then when the message is re-delivered IMGate will accept delivery if bozo is valid, and refuse delivery if it's bogus.
So if the sender doesn't exist- it ain't legit!
Gerry, wrong direction. This is on a non-existent recipient. The gateway is receiving for all, then sending to Imail, Imail rejects and gateway tries to send bounce.

Unknown users on IMail- I missed that. Well, MY IMGate knows what users exist, and sends a 554 reject for undefined users.
I also wasn't following the original post properly, which was-
I.E. If I send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and that use is non-existent for that domain. Imail will send back a "bounced" mail saying something to the effect of "User does not exist". I'd like to know if that "bounced" mail can just be discarded instead of bounced back.It's your server, if you want a rule to discard that info, go for it. I want to know that my email wasn't delivered in that case. (or was domain.com being hosted on IMail? Now I'm really confused!)
