According to the Ipswitch Knowledgebase (IM-19990611-DM06):

"Starting in version 8 you can enter:
@*widget.com
This will reject all mail from widget.com, bluewidget.com, nifty.widget.com,
etc."

Are you saying that this doesn't work properly without the "duplicate"
entries you describe?

We have that only for domains that use it..

remember * only is a placeholder of whatever goes there... so:

@*.something.com would catch  @what.something.com, @nothing.something.com

@something.com is not caught by the above.

So if you want to catch both you need two entries:

@*.something.com
@something.com

What we see is a lot of this:

@mx1.something.com
@mx2.something.com

so @*.something.com is great for that.
