We were just about to put a new Imail server into production last night when we found that the pop3 service kept on restarting and then about an hour after that the whole server bluescreened. I have looked through the archives and seen articles on this happening with linksys network cards but server that we using is a brand new Compaq dl580 with Compaq network cards so I doubt that it is this.
The bluescreen message was nicely generic and generally of no use at all and when the POP3 service has hung it has been under relatively light loading.
This definitely sounds like a hardware issue (generic blue screens usually occur due to hardware problems). It's isn't the same as the Linksys issue (that occurs as soon as someone starts downloading E-mail via POP3, rather than after a period of time). Bad memory would something else to check out here.
