I am currently operating in a Novell 6 environment with IMail as our mail
server. The higher-ups now want a groupware solution and the logical choice
is Groupwise (since we are already in a Novell environment.) The twist is
that they want to stay with Outlook (probably moving to 2003) as the client
but still use the features (shared calendar, shared contacts, etc.) of
Groupwise, but only for some users. We still have users that will only use
IMail web messaging for their email.
I want to keep IMail as the main mail server as I have been very happy with
it but I need to figure out how to add the groupware functionality. Any
thoughts?
Some thoughts, off the top of the grey matter --
There used to be a GroupWise plugin for LookOut; basically plugs OutLook into GroupWise and accesses the calendar, address book, etc from GroupWise.
Keep iMail as your front-end, especially if you have Declude or an anti-virus solution on it
FWIW, GroupWise has a pretty good web client, too.
You could set up GW as a mail host & a second-level address ([EMAIL PROTECTED]); have iMail relay GW mail to the GW server. This lets the non-GW users continue to use iMail.
