I have seen the Val From test fail when the AOL server cannot be reached, so I am sure your assessment is right

It's possible that the A record lookup timed out, and the test failed as a result (Ipswitch would have to confirm that). Normally it's best in a spam test like this to pass a test when there is a timeout. > The other one had this header... > > Received: from Maryann [167.206.85.53] by sbsnet.com > (SMTPD32-8.04) id A24B48C0102; Mon, 17 Nov 2003 09:59:23 -0500 > From: "USERNAME" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > So I surmise here that because it is telling me the hostname was >"Maryann" the it could not be resolved. That's correct. I'm not sure if IMail v8's anti-spam will have the HELO/EHLO test run on outgoing E-mails. >So the question here is why... Is the mail client setup wrong? Yes, it is set up wrong. But a huge percentage (90%?) of mail clients are set up wrong in that way. >Where is the "Maryann" coming from? The mail client has "Maryann" in its configuration settings somewhere. The mail client thinks that it is an Internet host named "Maryann" (even though that isn't a valid Internet host). -Scott --- Declude JunkMail: The advanced anti-spam solution for IMail mailservers.
