Maybe increase the server time-out on the account in the email client? I've done this before and it has helped stem connection aborts...

Here is the same situation, the connection abortes for some reason (i dont know yet), and afterwards the user gets all of his mail a second time. The problem is only the not finished download of messages. Imail 6.0x marks all of the mail as read at the end of the download, not after every succesfully downloaded single mail. If the connection abortes after 10 of 20 messages, the client has the first 10, but on the mail server they are not marked as read. So the next time the client connects it gets the mails from the beginning, resulting in having the first 10 mails duplicated at the client.
