I noticed another thread about the problems of using Outlook (the full version) with IMAP and IMail. We are experiencing problems with Outlook Express and IMail under IMAP, although they are different problems than described in the other thread. I believe the problems are due to OE, but I want to make sure I have my bases covered.
Has anyone seen these problems and could they be caused by or affected by IMail? 1. The message list in OE does not get updated. That is, as new messages come into the mailbox, the "unread message" count in the Folders view will show the correct number, but the list of messages does not get updated. Our clients believe that their email have not arrived for hours, whereas it's really OE not updating the message list. You can force an update of the message list by clicking away from the Inbox folder and then going back to it. 2. Deleting and purging messages. Sometimes purged messages don't go away until you click away from that folder and then click back in that folder. 3. Deleted messages that just won't go away. These are messages that you delete, purge, and nothing will make them go away. In preview mode, they usually save "message unavailable on server", or some such. Problem #1 is particularly perplexing because I can access a mailbox and get the message list updated properly, while a client can access the same mailbox and not get his message list updated. On different is that I have LAN access to the IMail server, while the client has a DSL link or similar to the Internet. I talked to MS tech support about this, and they confess complete ignorance. However, they did suggest checking the "auto logout timer setting" on the server. I see no such setting on IMail. Setting aside the natural suspicion we all share towards M$, does anyone have any ideas?
