Hi,

Have been running Imail 6.05 for several years now without any major problems. About 2
weeks ago we needed to re-install NT 4.0. We got everything installed SP6A plus latest
patches and then re-installed imail 6.0->6.06 and post 6.06 patches.

Soon after we begun to see the mail server gradually slow down until it would just
about stop (would take 5 minutes to just login via web messaging) - this would occur
about 3-5 hours after sending out about 50,000 emails. We would reboot which would
clear things up for a while but then it would gradually slow down again. We noticed a
lot of the email bouncing. NT Event logs are clean.

We checked the log files when the problem was occuring and noticed a lot of stack
connect fail xx.xx.xx.xx. messages. We looked through the ipswitch knowledge base and
checked to make sure everything was set up as specified
(http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19981110-DD02.htm) but the problem continued.
Problems only occured with outgoing mail.

The problem seems to occur when sending out 10,000 plus emails. Things work fine for
awhile but then we gradually seem to get Stack connect fail errors on individual SMTP
processes. We verified DNS was working correctly. As per previous threads, the IP
address on the errors do seem to go back to A records versus MX records. If just a few
emails are going out, Imail seems to work fine.

It appears that the Stack connect fail errors are occuring with the same SMTP process
(i.e. (0000005C)) - this process once it has begun failing will fail everytime. If we
send out a new message that's not listed in the spool, it gets a new process
(000000C3) and seems to work okay. See log sample below.

As far as NIC, we are using a Intel Pro/100. There is a second built in NIC but when
NT was installed, this was removed from the list under TCP/IP properties in Control
Panel ... Networking.

Any ideas? Any harm in temporarily going back to version 6.05 and seeing if the
problem continues?

Thanks in advance for any help/ideas, etc...

Adam
