I'm installing IMail for a company that has forever
used accounts in the [EMAIL PROTECTED]
format. Although the docs don't specifically mention using a period in a
user name (at least I didn't see it), I did read that an alias
name should not use any special characters other than an
underscore. Does this apply to user names also?
I set them up with the period in the username and I
also created an alias or two that have a period in the name. IMail
appears to not mind this, as it has been processing the mail
correctly.
Just wondering if anyone has run into any issues
with this. These folks are not opposed to dropping the period, but they'd
rather not if it can be avoided. If we did drop it, I would still need to
setup an alias for each user with the old user name containing the period that
resolves to the new name without the period until everyone was notified of the
new addresses.
