Ok I almost feel stupid asking this but I'll ask anyway. Can imail and symantec antivirus gateway be run on the same server as imail?
Yes, but it is complicated, and may have some flaws.
Essentially, you do not make any DNS changes (assuming that mail currently comes directly to the IMail server), and have SAG (or whatever they call Symantec Antivirus Gateway) listening on port 25. Then, set up IMail to listen on port 26 (per http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-19981118-DD01.htm ), and set up SAG to send on port 26.
Finally, you need to make sure there are no flaws -- the main concern is that you may be an open relay. You'll need to check with the SAG documentation about that.
According the the manual you have go play in DNS to get it working setting MX proirities etc, but it does not look like it will work on the same box.
In most cases, it should be able to. Just so long as it can sent to IMail on port 26 (or any port other than 25), it should work.
I am trying to push declude ...
If you want a free 30-day evaluation version, just send me an E-mail with the Official Host Name ("Host Name" on the General tab of IMail Administrator, when "localhost" is highlighted on the left side of the screen) of your IMail server, and I can get it for you.
