It's  not _receiving_ the MX records in the first place--so this isn't
the  same as the old issue where it would receive MX records but use A
records inappropriately.

In other words, per the log, it's behaving appropriately given that it
has to resort to a stack lookup because DNS is not returning the right
info.

Are  you  sure  that  you're manually querying the right DNS server (I
know this sounds skeptical, but it's happened to us all)?
