Did you make sure that no other SMTP services are running, such as Microsoft's in IIS?

Subject: [IMail Forum] We upgraded from v6.04 to v8.03 - Now the SMTP service stops working intermittently

Hello everyone-

We recently upgraded our iMail system from v6.04 to v8.03. Now we're getting complaints from users not being able to send mail. When we look at the server via the iMail Administrator application, the SMTP service is listed as stopped. Simply starting it up clears the problem, but this never happened before we upgraded. The upgrade was an in-place install over the existing installation (per IpSwitch's instructions).

This is happening about 2-3 times a day now and is becoming quite a nuisance. There isn't anything like this mentioned in the KB or the Forum archives. The server it is running on has plenty of horsepower - P4 1.6GHz, 1 GB RAM, 20GB empty drive space. We host three domains with a combined total of about 50 users.

Any ideas? We're stumped, and IpSwitch support isn't being much help on this, either.
