Yes as I set mine this way. 1. Remove the Imail MX record from your DNS zone file. I realize Symantec says to make the mail server a lower priority MX, but then it leaves your Imail mail server open to accpeting mail without it being scanned for viruses first. You only want to have one MX record at this point. Yes, it will remove your backup MX, but the laternative is to pass viruses to your users. There are also spamware/virus programs out there that will send mail to any MX, not just your primary.
2. Set your Imail server to no-mail relay. Only add the allowed IP address of the SAV SMTP gateway server IP. This means any one can send mail to your server as long as the recpient is legit. *BUT* only peopl who use SMTP auth will be able to use your SMTP service to send mail form your server. 3. Make sure all users use SMTP auth in their client. 4. Realize that this will remove any DNS blacklists test validity from Imail as Imail will always see the SAVSMTP server as the sending server. This is ok. Configure SAVSMTP to do the DNSBL scanning for you. If you have version 3.1.1 or higher (4.0 will be out next month I am told it may support weighted testing and thrid party plugins as well as statistical filtering. These have all been on the drawing board for sometime. It will also support something similar to deculde where it will automatically send virus notifications out only to those know to not disguise the sender) this will be fine. 5. Make sure you set SAV SMTP Gateway correctly or you will be an open realy out of the box. 6. If you are having any problems, I can set SAVSMTP up remotely as I have done it for a few others here on the list as well. Contact me off-list tomorrow.
