Yes and No- We're still seeing the SMTP service go up and down. We've implemented a temporary workaround via the iMail Monitor service, which automatically restarts the SMTP service upon failure. The good news is that we're no longer getting end-user complaints about not being able to send mail; the bad news is that a look at the Event Logs shows that the service is still dropping 5-15 times a day.
We've upped our build to v8.05 HF2 to no avail, and IPSwitch support has unfortunately been of little help. We're still open to suggestions from anybody that may be experiencing the same behavior. Side Note: This all got started as a result of applying Win2K SP4, which permanently "broke" the iMail v6.04 user interface (IPSwitch blames MS for this one), forcing an upgrade of what was an otherwise smooth-running Mail Server - otherwise, we never would have touched it. Grrrr... -PT -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Pat Hastings Sent: Friday, February 20, 2004 2:41 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] We upgraded from v6.04 to v8.03 - Now the SMTP service stops working intermittently Pat, Did you get a resolution to this problem. I have been getting the same problem of the SMTP server intermittently falling over and restarting (about four or five times a day). The interesting thing is that this is only happening on one of the servers I have. The only difference between this one and the others are that this is the only one running with the Anti spam filtering turned on. All the our servers are currently running 8.05 HF1 Regards, Pat Hastings -----Original Message----- From: Pat Thompson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 10 February 2004 20:24 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: re[4]: [IMail Forum] We upgraded from v6.04 to v8.03 - Now the SMTP service stops working intermittently Reply from: Pat Thompson We've configured antispam according the the Ipswitch article: http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-20030513-DM01.htm Is this setup causing the headers to be generated? -PT > This would not be causing your problem, but you may want to check your anti-spam configuration. You are sending out email with several X-IMail-Spam headers in them. The box is labeled 8.03, so I assumed that is what we had installed. -PT > >We recently upgraded our iMail system from v6.04 to v8.03. My first suggestion would be to upgrade to v8.05. There have been a number of issues corrected between 8.03 and 8.05; this could well be one of them. -Scott --- Declude JunkMail: The advanced anti-spam solution for IMail mailservers since 2000.
