Just figured I'd pass along some info in case anybody else runs into this.
We have a research partner that is using Verio to host their web site. We've been hosting their distribution lists on our exchange server for quite a while by setting up forwarders on their account and forwarding the messages to our domain. We recently set up an IMail server running as a virtual host for a subdomain of their domain to host these distribution lists as there is much more flexibility for remote management, locking down the lists, etc... Anyway, when D-day came and we rerouted the forwarders to the newly created subdomain, no messages got delivered and no non-delivery reports went out. The messages disappeared into the ether. Our logs showed that the messages were delivered, and they claimed that their logs showed that the messages were received. After more than a week of trying to troubleshoot the problem, we finally found out that the Verio mail server was the culprit, and it wasn't informing anybody about the issue (no bounces or NDRs). This story does have a happy ending, though... The workaround was to put a comma at the end of the email address in the Verio forwarder ;?) So where a forward to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" failed to go through, a forward to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]," goes through. Hope this saves somebody some time.
