>From the IMAIL help database: " IMail Server checks the incoming message's MAIL FROM: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> line. When it receives mail from an address listed in the SMTP kill file, IMail Server returns the message:
501 unacceptable mail address The kill.lst resides in the IMail top directory and applies to the primary host and all virtual hosts." MY QUESTION: ============ Since many/most spam MAIL FROM's are spoofed, it would seem dangerous to use the kill.lst file to deny spamming servers from connecting your iMail machine based on the MAIL FROM contents... so this kill.lst file is useless in an automated/scripted context, correct? What would be cool is if kill.lst or some other text-based file, say "killIP.lst" could contain a list of IPs that should be killed, and respond with a similar error like "501 blacklisted source IP". Any way to create such a situation in iMail? Why am I asking all this? We've created an automated database of the IP addresses of servers on 3+ blacklists that are sending us spam... I would love a simple way to send that database of IPs back to iMail in a simple script/text file for iMail to use, on the fly, to deny those servers from even connecting to our imail servers, to dump their garbage on us. I'm ready to hear "nope, can't do it with just iMail" and just proceed with our intended process, which is to write a text file to a packet filtering program on the iMail machine to deny the IP addresses their connection to us. The part I don't like about that is, it doesn't send back an error to the sending server, which would be nice.
