We're in the process of evaluating Imail for our users. I'd like to know
what kind of performance other users were getting out of it, as I think the
server is under pretty high load and not sure if it is Imail generally
sapping CPU cycles or else we've got something in the config horribly wrong.

At the moment the setup we're running is:
2.8ghz P4, 1gb DDR, 80gb 7200rpm HDD: Imail server, running POP3, SMTP,
Webmail, and Queuemgr
2.4ghz P4, 512mb DDR: Running a sending only service.

The 2.8 machine routes all outgoing messages through the 2.4 to relieve the
load a bit. The 2.8 machine is only a temporary machine that we're testing
on, and there's a proper Xeon machine coming with SCSI RAID etc. This is a
fairly average day's usage for us:
SpamContent 8464
LocalDeliver 29084
RemoteDeliver 9376

The 2.8 machine is coping with this load, but only just. It regularly has
100% CPU usage for several minutes which causes the POP3 and webmail service
to slow down. The current plans are to put two Debian boxes before the Imail
one, to cleanse incoming mail and for routing outgoing email. Spam/virus
filtering will be done at this level so Imail has less traffic to process.

I'd like to know what kind of hardware/software setup you guys are running
and how much mail it's happy with processing. Any tweaking suggestions etc
would be appreciated too.

Ed Butler
