Tripp (or anyone): I've tried everything I can think of to get IMail SMTP to share port 25 on a single machine. Sandy helped me try all his ideas using netsh to add the IP after IMail SMTP is started and nothing works. IMail SMTP seems to capture the IP the instant it's made available, blocking out any other service. I even tried setting up the other service to create the IP for itself as it starts and still IMail SMTP got it first. Neither IIS nor MS SMTP are even enabled on this box, so I'm sure they're not getting in the way. I even wrote a separate quickie windows service to bind up 25 on other IP's and the port gets shared perfectly as long as IMail SMTP isn't running...it's just IMail SMTP that won't play well with others.
Please Ipswich...this issue has been around too long - can you please find a way to put in an optional registry entry that will confine IMail SMTP to a designated and make it use that for in- and out-bound traffic?? PLEASE??
