My domains have always been hit with dictionary attacks, since switching to Imail they haven't been a problem at all, but after checking the SMTP logs I was wondering if anyone figured out a way to make SMTP close a connection and/or blacklist it with Imail after say 5 or more emails to unknown users come in from a certain IP? The performance of the server hasn't been noticeably affected, but either way these spammers are eating up bandwidth. Microsoft had a mail-sink script that could do this with Exchange, I am not sure if it is possible with Imail. I see that the SMTP will auto-deny an IP if it sends more than 512 characters in a command, maybe this could be adapted to block someone from pulling off a dictionary attack?
