If the message is being sent directly from your server it pretty much says the problem is on their end. Its very possible it is bouncing between several servers on thier end trying to find the address until it exceeds the max hop count and thus returning it..

Hi,
I have a client who is sending via IMail and according to the logs the
message is sent and we get a
250 2.0.0 i5HKbuK4022604 Message accepted for delivery
Then he gets back an error like this.
The original message was received at Thu, 17 Jun 2004 17:09:20 -0400
from [EMAIL PROTECTED]
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
(reason: 554 5.4.6 Too many hops)
----- Transcript of session follows -----
554 5.4.6 Too many hops 26 (25 max): from <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> via
localhost, to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Apparently mail to others at the jestais domain is going through
Seems to me this is a problem at their end and there is nothing I can do
about it. Any other thoughts on it?
