Please do not post links that require registration to view -- it's pretty rude (if you *must* post one, at least make it clear that you need to register).

sorry to waste your time. I've been registered a long time and forgot it was required.

I did post the key comments here. and the ASTA press release was everywhere yesterday.

For those of you who refuse (or are technically unable ) to block subscriber networks by PTR hostname...

Let's not go there again.

ASTA is recommending going EXACTLY there. If the network operators don't secure their subscriber networks, they risk being blocked. Take it up with ASTA, not me.

btw, your at-risk Charter IP for Declude is a non-problem, since you can relay your declude outbound through CH's non-subscriber IPs, if your are still associated with CH.

It's been proven time and again that blocking such IPs is no good

Tell it to ASTA.

-- even the list you posted had about about a 15% false positive ratio;

prove it. you make claims and don't back them up with numbers, so your claims are self-serving FUD.

Remember, the goal here is to block dynamic IPs

yes

= and/or those without permission to send mail directly, while not blocking any static IPs that have permission to send mail directly. If we can do that, we all win.

the ASTA goal is to get network operators to secure their networks, to stop zombies and RATware doing direct-to-MX abuse. Since widespread experience is that the majority of networks operators refuse to control the "pollution" spewing from their "factory" into our SMTP atmosphere, then their MERIT being shutdown for all mail emissions.

The time for PC, kid gloves, tolerant "would you pretty please stop" is LONG past.
