NO NO NO.

Do not change the serial number on a dynamic zone file with the service
running and if there is a .jnl file present. Use nsupdate to do any
on-the-fly updates.

doug,

I use the same solution here. On the DNS box, check system32/dns/etc to see
if the reverse files are there. Also, there is a named.conf in the
system32/ect that is the controller file for bind.

I don't use it but 9.2.3 may do dynamic dns so you'll have to look there.
Hopefully the prior person left some notes there.

Within the above folder you should see the revese files foe each Ip range
you have. It may be as simple as incrementing your serial number and
removing the duplicates you want to have out and then stopping/restarting
bind.

You really do need to look at the named.conf file and see how things are
configured there first. It will have the names of the files you'll need to
refer to as well as how it's setup to operate. If it's setup for dynamic,
removing the reverse multiple names will not do anything for you, they'll
just show up again, I think.

oh, also, check out http://www.isc.org/ and follow the bind link. there are
archives of bind questions there.
