I've searched the list archive and the Ipswitch support site, and the above link is the closest to actually resolving the problem. We have an I-Mail 8.05 mail server; most of the users are where they should be, in an external database. However, a recent audit has identified about 25 domains - a total of no more than about 150 users, tops - which have been set to use the I-Mail internal database. For obvious reasons, we want to migrate them over to the external DB. The problem is, the KBA linked above explicitly warns that it will *not* take the user passwords with it. However, this is exactly what we *want* to do; we want to have the process transparent to end users, and with as little administrative overhead as possible (i.e. the users aren't really going to want me calling them to get a new password from them, and I don't really fancy spending an afternoon changing 150 passwords by hand if there's a better way to get around this). That means, AFAIK, finding a way to pull the existing passwords, in clear text, out of the registry. Extracting the users from the registry hive poses no problem, but obviously the passwords are hashed - so my question is, is there any tool, utility or process which would allow us to unhash the passwords or by any other means, migrate the users, with passwords intact, to an external SQL database?
