During the recent flood of MyDoom, Lovgate, and Beagle variants Symantec didn't get a pattern file released fast enough and I have a strong feeling that the Beagle.AG virus got through yesterday. Does anyone know of a way to scan the users directory for a file name (for example Beagle.AG has been known to use "COOL_MP3.ZIP" as an infected attachment file name) and clean the file without removing the entire MBX file? So far my efforts have been unsuccessful, and IPSwitch technical support was no help.
To the best of our knowledge, there is no way to do that. We have heard from several people looking to do that, but there does not appear to be any tools to do so.
Be sure *not* to use a standard AV program, as it would likely delete the entire .MBX file if it found a virus.
