Okay, I'm probably going to talk myself through
this problem, but I found that the directory that the script is supposed to pull
the updater file to, already has the updater file there and it won't
delete. So I'm guessing that this is where my problem lies. Why the
file won't delete, I don't know. But at least I know where the problem
is.
Thanks for all the responses.

Okay, this is interesting. I can get the
script to work from at least two other computers, but it won't work on the
server. The thing is, all three computers should only appear as a single
IP address to Symantec (because we do have a firewall). The server is
Win 2K, and the computers the script worked for are Win 2003 and Win XP.
I'm really puzzled - can't figure out why it would all of a sudden stop
working for this one server.

You know, that could be the case. I
remember before when I had this problem it was right after I changed the
frequency of when the script ran, and after I had the script turned off for
a few days, it started working again. Maybe I just need to let it be
for a few days like before.
I'll try it from another IP to see if it
works.

can you try to run this script from another
IP.
Maybe SAV is blocking certain IP's for example if
they connect to often in a certain timerange.
Markus
When I manually run the script, it is clear
that I am connecting to Symantec's FTP just fine, but it tells me access
is denied when attempting to get the file. The script was working
fine just last week, and it's worked for the past 6 months, so I can't
imagine it's incorrectly written.
Does anyone have a script that they use for
this same function that works, that you would be able to share with
me?

SAV Intelligent Updater
The only time we have had this issue is whe there have been
config issues with our firewall or the script was incorrectly
written.
Kevin Bilbee
I've had a script running for a
while that downloads the updated Intelligent Updater from Symantec
every day and installs the new virus definitions for me. But
in the past week, for some reason it appears that Symantec's site is
denying my script access to download the file.
Has anyone else that uses SAV had this
problem before? I actually had this issue before, but then it
seemed to have corrected itself. Could it be that my script is
trying to access the file when there are too many other users out
there trying to access it? Any input would be
appreciated.
