But that's just it; we do NOT send any replies to spammers.  We never have,
and never will.  The original message that started this whole thing was sent
to an address that does not exist on our system -- it was a standard iMail
bounce, because [EMAIL PROTECTED] is not an alias OR a mailbox on our
server -- it simply does not exist at all.

What to do?

That is pretty close to what happened.  However, there was no joe-job.  A
joe-job is when spammer A sends an E-mail to user B using the return
address of user C (who is unrelated to user B).  With a joe-job, you get
the bounces.

But what happened here is that someone sent you spam, and apparently you
incorrectly set up your anti-spam software to bounce the E-mail.  That
justifies a listing in SPAMCOP, and a complaint from your Internet
provider, since you forced the complainer to deal with the spam so that you
would not have to.
