I don't look at it as an issue since, if I check mail from multiple mailboxes, even if they are all aliases to the checked mailbox, I still use rules to sort them all to other folders in the account. It does show all configured accounts (mailboxes) in the same tree, it's not like you have to log out then back in. There is no way I would want the upwards of 500 daily emails I get all going straight to the Inbox, they need to find their proper home so I can deal with them quickly and with priority.
I guess what I am saying is, what is so bad about an inbox per POP/IMAP account? Oh, the latest version supports MAPI, too. That's pretty much what users MozillaZine suggested, but to my mind, that's a bodge to cover up a fundamental issue with the way the client handles mail. It's trying to make it do something it isn't designed to do, and it's the design that needs addressing, IMO.
