It's  only  "true" because IMail forces it to be true, by applying the
same  retry  cycle  to  all domains served by a single server, whether
they  are  specific store-and-forward domains for which it acts as MX,
or wildcard remote domains.

There's  little  reason  to have such a long retry cycle for mail from
your  local  users,  for example, but IMail forces you to do so if you
use  the  same box for outbound mail. MS SMTP can be a very handy tool
for  this  reason,  as it allows you to set different retry cycles per
virtual server.
