> Please do tell what is so horrible with NetSol?

Here is my list:

1. They are too expensive
2. They consistently try to push through rules and regulations that are bad
for the Internet and their competitors but are good for them
3. They try to deceive customers and ex-customers into believing that
services are about to expire when they aren't. This causes people to renew
services with them (or transfer services to them) when it isn't necessary.
4. They are often obstructionist when trying to move services away from
them.
5. Their customer service stinks. When something goes wrong with a domain
name, you need to get the problem sorted out ASAP. However, their customer
service can be so bad that it can take dozens of calls and over many days to
sort out the most simple problem.

Did I miss anything? :-)

Yes:

[6] They do (did?) not allow domain names to actually expire, but instead would transfer the registration to their name at expiration, so that the domain could not be renewed by the original owner -- or someone wanting the domain name, who could use it -- with the intent to auction them off.

[7] They did a favor to spammers temporarily by setting up the .com/.net DNS to refer all unused domains to their DNS servers. So if you tried to go to "www.dcelude.com" (a typo), it would send you right to Network Solutions (who presumable did things like ask if you wanted to purchase the domain or other services through them). Spammers benefited because they could then send out E-mail from made-up domains, and it would appear that they were valid domains.

For what it is worth, I believe they have gotten somewhat better on nearly
every point over the last year or so. However, I still feel there are much
better choices out there.
