After setting the filter to prevent the following extensions :
[ .bat, .chm, .cmd, .cpl, .exe, .ex_, .hta, .lnk, .shs, .scr, .sc_, .theme, .pif, .vbs, .job ]
i now get virus mails NETSKY types, thru .zip , .xls, .doc .... How do i totally prevent these mails from reaching the mailbox.
please help, as theres a havoc.... of viruses
You cannot block viruses with a filter. It just isn't possible. Even the best extension filters do not catch all E-mails with the extension you want to block, and they occasionally catch E-mails without the extension you are trying to block. That's OK for many people who are trying to block file extensions.
But you're trying to turn filters into AV software (blocking .ZIP/.XLS/.DOC files that have viruses, while allowing good ones through). It just ain't possible.
If you want to have 100% accuracy blocking file extensions, or if you want full AV protection, you need a mailserver virus scanner.
