The command line works fine, its when adduser is used in a program alias to recieve and email with the command line in the body of the message. It worked fine with versions prior to 8.1, setup a program alias to adduser.exe and send an email with the command line in the body, then look in the registry under domain/users, you'll see.

Ipswitch got back to me after my last post and said they are aware of the problem and said they would contact me when it was fixed.

I use addueser on 8.13. Looks to me like you are calling it with crap. Might
wrap it in a .cmd file that logs (echo %* >> logfilename) the parameters and
then calls adduser.

Maybe your source is to blame, not the sink.

I have tested it on several versions including the latest and its still broke. I also tested versions of 8.x and it definately broke at 8.1

I tried using a version from 7.x and 8.x but I believe the registry paths
changed so it doesnt work with versions 8.1+

It amazes me that adduser.exe and isplcln.exe were broke in the 8.1 and if
they were aware of it how hard could it possibly be to fix what ever
changed...

I spent hours today deleting over 10,000 bad registry entries that have been
piling up since i upgraded to 8.1 in the spring. My nightly Imail reg
backups dropped an average of 2MB in size, one dropped over 4MB in size.
sigh.

I have yet to get a response.

Any success with this?
We've had the same issue. Ipswitch is FULLY aware of it.
Does a previous version of the application work?

Registry Entries
Importance: High

The version of adduser.exe dated 4/30/2004 1:14PM which was included in
one
of the 8.x releases is not parsing files correctly. I believe this started
at 8.1 based on the reg entry dates.

We add users to our systems from a central management server by sending an
email to a program alias which passes a command line to adduser.exe

The program alias is setup as:
D:\IMail\adduser.exe -h testserver.nat.com -f

to add a user the body of the email looks like this:
-u aaa111 -p aaa111 +active -chgpass +web +info

Adduser.exe appears to be parsing the header instead of starting at the
body.

I setup a test program alias and sent the following message:

From: "Rick Davidson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Subject:
Date: Tue, 2 Nov 2004 18:10:46 -0500
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain;
format=flowed;
charset="iso-8859-1";
reply-type=response
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
X-Priority: 3
X-MSMail-Priority: Normal
X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2180
X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.2180

-u aaa111 -p aaa111 +active -chgpass +web +info

--------------------------

With the email above I get users added that look like this (with a leading
square character)
charset="iso-8859-1";@testserver.nat.com
format=flowed;@testserver.nat.com
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

it also creates registry entries under users that look like this:
 (SMTPD32-8.11) id AD4F392D005E 02 Nov 2004 17:42:23 -0500

Please look at the parsing function it isnt starting at the body. I really
need this fixed right away. Unfortunately this has been going on since
April
but I never noticed the user counts climbing, I cleaned one server that
said
there were 1800 + users when in fact there were only 450 or so users. My
most busy server shows 6500 users, there should only be 900, the server
has
been sluggish lately so I am going to spend tomorrow deleting the 5000
some
reg entries to see if it clears up. By the way none of those 5000 some
entries show up in the Imail admin users tree.
