Title: Remote SMTP user cannot authenticate
Possibly the ISP your laptop user is accessing is blocking port 25. Test this with "telnet mail.domain.tld 25". Set your firewall to port-forward 587 to 25 on the mail box and have the remote user use that port. DO NOT use IP's in the wild for forwards, but allow Authenticated Users to forward.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Remote SMTP user cannot authenticate

I mail my mail server to relay for local IP addresses only.  However, I have a laptop user who authenicates SMTP remotely.  Suddenly it won't connect.  The message Outlook returns is cannot find SMTP server, but he can receive messages fine.  Any idea where to begin?  Our firewall is setup correctly, is this some kind of timeout issue?
