Well put, and good point.

SpamCop started out "going too far", but they got better (?) and are now a
useful AND fair tool to put to use against spammers. Perhaps this DDoS
system, being in its infancy, is drawing fire now, but couldn't it also
become another really good tool, and maybe even better than the current
tools? I think what some of us are saying is, all good tools have to start
somewhere, and maybe this one is worth some attention. If Lycos blows it,
I'm sure the "self-correcting" nature of the Internet will prevail -- people
will learn that the "service" is doing no good, and/or is causing harm, and
will simply refrain from downloading it or turn it off/uninstall if they
already have it. Maybe someone else will pick up the ball and deliver a
better solution along these lines too... that's what the Internet has
definitely already proven could happen.

So what you might be saying is, if this service is seen by Lycos as more
than just a vigilante tactic, and they keep emotions in check by using Real
People with Real Data, and set out in their "mission statement" for the
service that they intend to remain FAIR, then maybe you'd not take quite
such a hard stance against the idea? Another hypothetical for the list, I
think...

And buying Telecom stocks would appear to be something to consider if this
type of "service" takes off... for sure! :)
