We are still experiencing this issue. Even though it would seem to be a POP issue, stopping and restarting the SMTP service solves the issue, for a time. Weve since changed the default location for our Declude logs to another directory. We reboot our server each night. The issue has not been reported in almost a week.
Our logs show we handle an average of over 500,000 messages a day. Ipswitch has told us that this is very close to the limit of Imails abilities. They also informed us that Imail has only one SMTP thread and can handle a maximum of 60 connections at a time. We have an unlimited license.

tried to run it we get the message that it needs exclusive use of the drive.
We're running an array on this box.
We're seeing some files with no file name only the extensions .mbx and .uid
show up in some user folders. This phenomenon was not present in the users
folders that experienced the loss of delivery issue...

Are they using POP or IMAP? I have seen a few servers with a similar
performance problem when users had extremely large mailboxes and the drives
were really fragmented. Are you using anything to defrag the drive on a
regular basis?
