More than likely a virus scanner is scanning the spool directory and is deleting the D* files for some of the messages but the Q* files are being left behind and the blank messages are where Imail reads the Q* file and attempts to send the message but the D* file is missing which contains the actual message so all that is delivered is the envelope.
