I still say this is a support forum, not a marketing list.  Product
announcements that are not in response to a question or problem should be
taken elsewhere, IMO.

Your opinion is fine. But in the past 3 years, nobody complained until now (not even you, in the time you've been here). In the computing world, it's called a "de facto standard" -- something that isn't official, but everyone ends up following anyways.


Which begs the question...what are the official guidelines for posting to
the list?  I know IMail posted something on this sometime in the past year.
We can let that settle it once and for all.

http://support.ipswitch.com/kb/IM-20020802-DM01.htm. It doesn't mention anything about commercial posts. I think that pretty much summarizes where things are: The list has been around for many years, and commercial posts have never been a problem (if they were, they would have made it to the posting guidelines page).
