Also when using ClamScan.exe, clamd is not used. The risk is just not there :)

The problem was not Clam after all (and clam was never crashing, IMail SMTPD was). We quickly returned to Clam in our production environment once the real problem was found. Completely unrelated to Clam by the way :)
