The  primary  reason  is  to  reject  unknown  recipients  at the SMTP
envelope  on  the gateway, an essential function that MS SMTP does not
perform  out  of  the  box.  ORF  can use locally stored lists or LDAP
synchronization  to  do  this.  In addition, as an envelope-integrated
app,   ORF   adds   the   expected   wide   selection   of   DNSBL/PTR
connection-level  filtering,  and  post-acceptance  keyword/attachment
content  filtering  as  well  --  though overall it is, of course, not
close to Declude for flexibility and extensibility.

If  you're  using  my  ldap2aliases  script  to sync recipients to the
gateway  from  IMail,  you're already doing the function on IMail that
would make ORF essential on MS SMTP.
