The primary reason is to reject unknown recipients at the SMTP envelope on the gateway, an essential function that MS SMTP does not perform out of the box. ORF can use locally stored lists or LDAP synchronization to do this. In addition, as an envelope-integrated app, ORF adds the expected wide selection of DNSBL/PTR connection-level filtering, and post-acceptance keyword/attachment content filtering as well -- though overall it is, of course, not close to Declude for flexibility and extensibility. > We just finished with a declude gateway and always looking for > better ways of doing things. Declude is working very nicely I will > add. Next budget year we will add Message Sniffer. If you're using my ldap2aliases script to sync recipients to the gateway from IMail, you're already doing the function on IMail that would make ORF essential on MS SMTP. --Sandy ------------------------------------ Sanford Whiteman, Chief Technologist Broadleaf Systems, a division of Cypress Integrated Systems, Inc. e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] SpamAssassin plugs into Declude! http://www.mailmage.com/products/software/freeutils/SPAMC32/download/release/ Defuse Dictionary Attacks: Turn Exchange or IMail mailboxes into IMail Aliases! http://www.mailmage.com/products/software/freeutils/exchange2aliases/download/release/ http://www.mailmage.com/products/software/freeutils/ldap2aliases/download/release/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
