Yes, most ISP’s such as SBC / Qwest / Cox / Roadrunner etc… block port 25 with the exception of their own mail server.  As one person mentioned you can put a rule in your firewall to allow “higher ports” to forward requests on that port over to 2525.  However in IMAIL there is no way to configure “multiple ports” for POP / SMTP.

I went through this some time ago, but never did any rules or anything as we are starting our phase out of IMAIL and moving over to another system which allows this type of implementation.

Personally I use a UNIX server for my own e-mail, and have ports for SMTP configured on 25 as well as port 2525.

Rob

Subject: [IMail Forum] ISP's blocking port 25 except to their own mail servers

I am having trouble with home based users not being able to send mail through my iMail server anymore. The ISPs; SBC/Yahoo & Ameritech; are blocking port 25. I looked in the list archive and it appears that iMail can only listen on a single port, is this true? I don’t want to force everyone to change to accommodate a few users. It’s easier to have them use their ISP for outgoing mail.
