The DNS server is Windows 2003 DNS running on the same box as IMail and it resolves everything else just fine. I started up a Web browser on that box and was able to resolve to the problematic domain's Web site without a hitch, probably because the fail over worked properly, but IMail wasn't failing over to the secondary DNS for some reason for the MX lookup.

I also tested my DNS server by doing queries off of it for the same records on that domain and that worked just fine, it can find the appropriate MX records, but IMail for some reason couldn't.

Note that I have both domain caching and failed domain skipping turned off in IMail and am running 8.15H1.

Is it possible that IMail doesn't properly handle a failed primary nameserver? Or maybe there is something else going on (non-standard/error) with the records that is messing it up for this domain that is only apparent when the primary nameserver is down?

Thanks,

Matt

Imail queries the DNS it's told to use.

THAT DNS, not Imail, is responsible for resolution, which includes handling DNS timeouts.
