I block all those type of services with our IPrism device. If you can't
send your email for us to filter, virus scan, and verify, well we don't need
your email.

Subject: [IMail Forum] "Certified" mail services like PointOfMail

Forgive me if this is a topic everyone already knows about, but it's new to
me and I want to find out how others are handling it.

The service is www.pointofmail.com. (There are others like it, including
www.readnotify.com and www.e-mailsecure.com.) It seems a bit ominous to me,

with a high potential for abuse. By sending an email via their service, you

can know when the recipient reads it, for how long they have the message
open, etc. They do this by storing your message on their server and sending

the recipient an HTML message that points to the stored message. Since the
actual message isn't on the recipient's system, you can also delete the
message whenever you want.

There's nothing to prevent someone from pointing the HTML to a worm or
virus, I suppose. So, do any of you block these sorts of services? I would

feel a bit better if the companies offering the services were a little more
open with who and where they are, but only one publishes any sort of
business address.

Regards,

Bill
