If you JUST want to upgrade Imail, and not go to ICS, you will need to
contact Ipswitch. They may or may not sell you a standalone upgrade.
Rumor has it they will. Killerwebmail is now a free add-on, IIRC, but
must be upgraded along with Imail. Your scripts should be fine,
although there may be some things to watch out for that I am not aware
of. I have also written a lot of scripts and everything carried through
our upgrade.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Upgrade from Imail v7.x

Hi all,

Can I still upgrade from Imail 7.x to version 8? [I can't find this
option on Ipswitch's website.] Furthermore, would you RECOMMEND this
upgrade?

When originally announced, I didn't see any improvements I couldn't live
without, but now I have need for the postmaster retries setting and
other performance improvements.

Unfortunately, I have written a dozen or more scripts for remotely
managing domains, users, and lists which I really do NOT want to
recompose. Some of these use the provided command-line applets. Others
write to files or directly to the registry. If I upgrade, will these
scripts convey?

Also, I use KillerWebMail. I believe this also must be upgraded to work
with v8, no? Is this a separate purchase or included with v8?
Worthwhile?

I apologize for all of the questions and greatly appreciate any advice
you can offer.

Thank you!

Dave
