I'm not trying to sell you on the idea, but you may not realize how easy it
is to setup a Linux firewall. All firewall's run on _some type_ of OS and
they don't require you to know anything about it. With the Linux firewall's,
you know the OS is based on a stable, secure platform. I don't know anything
about Linux either but I have setup several Linux based firewalls(mostly
Astaro). Most are browser based and don't require shell access or knowledge
of Linux and I have _never_ had to "Tweak" the OS. The only thing you need
to know is how to burn an ISO image to a CD, and place it in a bootable CD
player on the computer or server of your choice. After that, it is basic
firewall setup using your browser. That's as plug-and-play as it gets for
me.

The main thing I like is not being limited by the hardware used by the
manufacturer (like SonicWALL, Watchguard, etc.). I can upgrade or replace
components easily and cheap. I usually install it on the slowest computer
the client has, and that is usually a lot faster/better hardware than what
you get with the factory boxes. If the box crashes, I insert the bootable CD
(on any machine, the hardware does not have to match the old config), let
the OS install, then load my saved config file. Takes about 15 minutes to be
up and running on new hardware.

BTW, I think Sonicwall and Watchguard are excellent choices also.
