Adam,

Like I said before, when I see that 99.9%+ of traffic from such a specific
criteria is spam, that is when it makes good sense to block it. Obviously,
if it were not for zombies and other spammers polluting ADSL connections the
numbers would be a lot different.

We have an SDSL connection that I use as a backup MX, but I have always been
able to get a block of IP addresses that did not appear in any DUN lists or
other blacklists. I always have had my RDNS set up to reflect that of my own
network as well, and we have no rejection problems. It doesn't cost a
fortune for an SDSL circuit.

I am pretty sure that most providers do not recommend running a mail server
on their ADSL lines, even ones with static Ips. I think that if you opt for
a residential class service, you are bound to run into all kinds of
problems. Getting your mail rejected by tons of other mail servers is only
going to be one of your many worries.

Any business that is so small as to not be able to afford something better
than an ADSL line should probably not be running their own mail server to
begin with. How could a company that strapped for cash be able to afford to
have someone administrate it properly? Companies of this size would be best
served using an outside hosting service. If money is such an issue, why not
just sign them all up for Hotmail accounts? Compared to running a server
without an admin there to make sure it is running properly, Hotmail would
probably be safer and more reliable.
