It doesn't have to; it's the SMTP sending process that uses domain literals (Adriel, that's the term for addresses with square-bracketed IPs instead of domains) to connect to the peer. It substitutes domain literals for the original domain as it goes from peer to peer, checking for a valid user. > I would like to see the telnet conversation using the domain name in > place of the IP? I don't think that's relevant to peering in 8.05. I actually think we're getting closer to the root cause here: the Exchange server (more properly, the IIS SMTP service) is not accepting mail to domain literals. This'll require a metabase tweak. I'll be happy to do it remotely; Adriel, contact me off-list. --Sandy ------------------------------------ Sanford Whiteman, Chief Technologist Broadleaf Systems, a division of Cypress Integrated Systems, Inc. e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] SpamAssassin plugs into Declude! http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/SPAMC32/download/release / Defuse Dictionary Attacks: Turn Exchange or IMail mailboxes into IMail Aliases! http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/exchange2aliases/downloa d/release/ http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/ldap2aliases/download/re lease/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
